About Florence Mussat, MD
Florence Mussat, M.D. is a Board-Certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon in Downtown Chicago and has been in private practice for over 15 years. She is a native of France. She was born and raised in Paris, where she graduated with Honors from the University R. Descartes School of Medicine of Paris in 1984. While in medical school, Dr Mussat worked as a surgical assistant for several plastic surgeons in Paris, after which she developed a passion for Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery. She completed her general surgery residency training and a critical care Fellowship at the state University of new York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, NY, and a Microvascular Research fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, NY. She then completed a Fellowship in Burn Surgery at Cook County Hospital, in Chicago, IL followed by a Plastic and Reconstructive residency at UIC, in Chicago, IL. Dr Mussat is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1999. She was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Illinois Society of Plastic Surgery, American Medical Association, Chicago Medical Society, Illinois State Medical Society, and Ordre National des Medecins in France. Dr. Florence Mussat also volunteers her time for continued support of Project Exploration which offers young female students exposure to STEM careers, such as Sisters4Science.
