About Edward M. Gronet, MD
STARS Plastic Surgery’s Dr. Edward Gronet is new to San Antonio, TX from Baylor, Scott, and White Health in Temple, TX where he spent the last six years in residency. During his training, he was fortunate to meet Dr. Rodney Chan at San Antonio Military Medical Hospital Center where they worked together clinically and also collaborated in doing research. Dr Gronet’s interest in plastic surgery began a few hours inland from the North Carolina shore. One night during a medical school clerkship, a young patient was flown in from the beach, a victim of a shark attack. Reconstructive surgery was performed through the night to restore blood flow to the leg to preserve the best chance of long-term function. The reconstruction was a success for the patient and inspired Dr. Gronet to pursue a career in plastic surgery. Dr. Gronet’s practice includes aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body with the goal of a natural, not “done” look for his patients. Dr. Gronet can be found repairing lacerations and fixing hand trauma in the ER, performing reconstructive breast surgery in the hospital, performing aesthetic rejuvenation and body contouring in our free-standing operating room, or in our clinic performing non-surgical skin resurfacing along with BOTOX and fillers. His medical school education was focused on primary care. He adopted these ideas to construct a patient-centered and comprehensive approach to surgical care that will be with you from consultation through long-term follow-up. Dr. Gronet attended preparatory school before his undergraduate education at UNC Chapel Hill. There he studied science and liberal arts and also started a small business to pay for school. A Certificate in Core Public Health Concepts followed at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Public Health. From there, Dr. Gronet worked at a community hospital before attending medical school in Eastern North Carolina at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. He was the first graduate of his school to match into an Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency and the next six years were spent in Temple, TX training with the renowned faculty at Baylor, Scott, and White Health. Dr Gronet has been published numerous times in peer-reviewed journals as well as a medical textbook. He was invited numerous times during his residency to present original research to the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He also has ongoing international collaborations with leaders in the field of regenerative medicine. Dr Gronet loves history and food. Now that he lives in San Antonio, these are the two things he is excited to explore. He enjoys skiing, traveling, cooking, art, and finance. He speaks French and is working on learning Spanish and Italian.
