About Douglas A. Winstanley, DO
I grew up in eastern Michigan. After attending University of Michigan, I attended Midwestern University-CCOM on a health professions scholarship through the US Navy. After completing my internship at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, I attended flight surgery training in Pensacola, FL. I served as a Naval Flight Surgeon in Puerto Rico and San Diego prior to returning to the Naval Medical Center San Diego to complete my residency in Dermatology. I stayed at NMCSD as teaching staff prior to deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After returning from deployment, I completed a fellowship in Procedural Dermatology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA. Following my assignment as Head of Procedural Dermatology at NMCSD, I separated from the Navy with rank of Commander. I am board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, an ACMS-trained Mohs surgeon, a fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology, and a diplomat of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. My wife, six children and I are happy to be back in Michigan with Drs. Dekkinga, Ang, Vasquez and the team in Grandville and Holland. Learn more about the American College of Mohs Surgery.
