About Derek Lee, MD
Dr. Lee founded The Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in 1997. He completed his training in pharmacy at the University of California at San Francisco in 1985. Prior to that, he completed his undergraduate study at the University of Washington. In 1992 Dr. Lee graduated from the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona. He then completed his internship and a residency of otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, followed by a fellowship in facial plastic surgery under the auspices of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Lee was selected to a TOP DOCTOR by the Consumer Research Council of America in 2006 and 2007. He was also selected a TOP DOCTOR by the New Jersey Monthly in 2007. Dr. Lee is board certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. A dedicated teacher, he served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the New Jersey Medical School and as Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery) at the New Jersey Medical School. He has written many articles on various aspect of facial plastic surgery for medical journals, and presented his results and surgical techniques at national medical conventions. In 2000, he received a teaching award from the Residents of Otolaryngolgy-Head & Neck Surgery at New Jersey Medical School in honor of his dedication to the education of the residents and medical students. Dr. Lee is an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery . He also devotes many hours of service to the community of Newark, New Jersey.
