About Daniel Casso, MD
Dr. Daniel Casso was born and raised in McAllen, Texas, where he attended public schools. For his undergraduate preparation, he attended Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, studying economics and pre-med. After graduation from Harvard, he received his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He served his internship and residency in general surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas. While at St. Joseph, he also completed his residency in plastic surgery. Dr. Casso was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1994, and was elected as a Fellow to the American College of Surgeons in 1996. He was awarded a certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in November 1999. In addition, he has been a member of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgery since 1997 and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons since 1994, as well as a Member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Casso has been active in physician governance at Houston Methodist St.John Hospital, having served two terms as Medical Staff President, as well as Chief of the Surgery Department and General Surgery Section. Dr. Casso was the former Medical Director of the Plastic Surgery Program at CHRISTUS ST. JOHN HOSPITAL, which was dedicated to providing first class service and attention to patients in need of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Casso has published articles in prestigious medical journals and has presented his research at major medical meetings, although the bulk of his professional career has been devoted to the care of his patients. Dr. Casso recently celebrated the completion of his 27th year in private practice on the campus of Houston Methodist St. John Hospital. His wife, Dr. Araceli G. Casso, is a psychiatrist in private practice. They have two children, Andrew and Matthew. Andrew graduated from Emory University and is pursuing a writing career, and Matthew is completing his studies in Psychology at Harvard University. Dr. Casso’s free time is devoted to family activities, church fellowship, and his hobby, fly fishing. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
