About Caroline A. Glicksman, MD
Dr. Caroline Glicksman is a board certified plastic surgeon in practice in Sea Girt, New Jersey since 1992. She is an Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. After receiving a BS in Microbiology and a BA in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts, she went on to attend The State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, receiving her MD in 1985. She trained in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC and completed her Plastic Surgery residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital. She then went on to complete a cosmetic surgery fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Glicksman started her private practice in New Jersey in 1992 and soon became active in both the fight to mandate insurance coverage for breast reconstruction, and the growing silicone breast implant controversy. In 2003 and 2005 she testified before the FDA Advisory Panels on Silicone Breast Implant Safety, and is credited with bringing more patients to testify on behalf of silicone safety than any other physician in the United States. In 2005 she represented both the ASPS and ASAPS before members of Congress on Capitol Hill as a member of the National Breast Implant Task Force. A principle investigator in five FDA Clinical Trials of silicone and saline implants since 1995, Dr.Glicksman is committed to the long term follow-up of every one of her patients. In 2005, she was one of a handful of surgeons sent to Sweden for extensive training in the use of the Form Stable Highly Cohesive Gel breast implants; the newest generation of silicone gel devices. Her publications include peer reviewed articles in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and numerous chapters in prestigious plastic surgery textbooks. These chapters include topics such as “Patient Education in Breast Augmentation”, and the “Management of Breast Implant Complications”. Dr. Glicksman is a frequently invited guest at national and international plastic surgery meetings, and lectures on improving outcomes in breast augmentation and lowering revision rates. She is also the developer of several patents related to aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Dr. Glicksman has been credited for years as being a “Top Doc in NJ” and the “NY Metro Area”, as well as one of the “Top Surgeons for Women”. She is regularly featured by both the regional and national press. Married to an Orthopaedic surgeon, she has four teenage children.
