About Andrew D. Munro, MD
Dr. Munro is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive consultative services, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), oculoplastic consultation and surgery, and orbital and reconstructive consultation and surgery. Dr. Munro's professional interests include the evolution of aesthetic and reconstructive surgical techniques, as well as diseases of the eyelids such as Ocular Cicatricial Pemphigoid. His research has resulted in a number of journal publications and presentations at national meetings. Dr. Munro attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a degree in English Literature. He received his medical degree from Duke University where he also had a one-year research fellowships with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He completed an Internal Medicine internship at VCU returning to Duke to finish his residency in Ophthalmology. His fellowship training in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery also took place at Duke University, including rotations at the Duke Aesthetic Center and Oxford University with a focus on cosmetic facial plastic surgery techniques.
