About Amanda A. Hassler, MD
A native Houstonian, Dr. Amanda Hassler founded Hassler Dermatology. She is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and specializes in medical, cosmetic and pediatric dermatology. Dr. Hassler received her undergraduate degree in biology cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she also competed on Georgetown’s national championship sailing team. Dr. Hassler returned to Houston, obtaining her M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and her dermatology residency from the State University of New York’s Downstate Medical Center in New York City. During her dermatology residency, she received the Doctor of the Year Award for Dermatology from Kings County Hospital (Brooklyn, N.Y.). During her dermatology training, Dr. Hassler published important articles in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the British Journal of Dermatology. Dr. Hassler prides herself on caring for the whole patient and is known for her excellent rapport with patients. She is committed to allocating individual attention to each of her patients during their appointments together. Giving back to the community through volunteer time focused on education around dermatological care is something Dr. Hassler enjoys. She has advocated for dermatology policy matters in Washington, D.C., as a recipient of the American Academy of Dermatology’s Legislative Conference Resident Scholarship Award. She also conducted pro bono melanoma screenings in her local community. Dr. Hassler loves her profession because of the methods and practices she can apply to improve the lives of others. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Hassler engages in an active lifestyle and enjoys running, traveling and cooking. She spends most of her spare time with her husband, daughter and Australian Shepherd.
