About Amanda A. Dunec, MD
Amanda A. Dunec, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist. Dr. Dunec graduated from McGill University in Canada, with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physiology, where she graduated on the Dean’s Honour List, with Great Distinction, and was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society. She then received her Medical Degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where, after spending a year of a medical school dedicated to dermatology research, specifically in acne, she graduated with a Special Distinction in Dermatology. Dr. Dunec completed her internship in internal medicine at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, followed by her dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Dunec was awarded two prestigious clinical preceptorships, one with Dr. Jean Bolognia at Yale, and one with Dr. Ronald Moy through the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. After residency, Dr. Dunec joined the academic faculty at Montefiore Medical Center where she was an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Director of Cosmetic Dermatology, directly involved in hands-on resident education. Dr. Dunec is passionate about teaching, lecturing, and serving as a mentor in dermatology. She has also published multiple manuscripts in peer-reviewed dermatology journals. Dr. Dunec is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Living in Northern New Jersey, she has joined Dermatology Consultants of Short Hills because she closely aligns with the philosophy of the practice to provide high quality and personalized care to local patients, with a bonus of being close to home. She will continue to teach the dermatology residents at Montefiore Medical Center, specifically in cosmetic dermatology. She is also a member of the attending staff at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. She enjoys a broad range of clinical interests in dermatology from acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer, and complex medical dermatology to procedural dermatology and skin rejuvenation (including Botox, Dysport, Restylane, Juvederm, lasers, microneedling, and chemical peels). Dr. Dunec is extensively trained in, and has an affinity for, managing dermatologic conditions in patients with skin of color. Taking care of entire families is her calling – from infancy to geriatrics, Dr. Dunec loves and does it all. Dr. Dunec was raised in Toronto, Canada. She is a dancer who loves to cook, party plan, travel, and spend time with her two children, family, and friends.
