About Alison M. Messer, MD
Dr. Alison Messer is a native Texan who grew up in Austin and has spent the past 8 years living in Houston for her medical training. She graduated with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Biochemistry and then attended the University of Texas at Houston McGovern Medical School for her MD degree, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha society. Dr. Messer recently completed her Dermatology residency at the combined MD Anderson Cancer Center/University of Texas McGovern Medical School program, and she served as Chief Resident during her final year. She is continuing her training in Dermatopathology, at the University of Texas at Houston McGovern Medical School, and joined the Bellaire Dermatology team in June working on Saturdays. Dr. Messer is interested in general and complex medical dermatology as well as prevention of and treatment of skin cancers, and sees patients of all ages. She enjoys connecting with her patients and seeing their progress after treatment. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in dermatology literature and is a member of multiple dermatology and medical societies. She is currently serving on the American Academy of Dermatology's Practice Management Committee. Dr. Messer is licensed by the Texas State Medical Board and is board eligible by the American Board of Dermatology. In her free time, Dr. Messer enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. One of her passions is exercise, she loves running, biking, and swimming. After a workout, you can find her exploring the wonderful restaurants that Houston has to offer or catching basically any sports game. Her favorite team is the Texas Longhorns!
