About Aleksandra G. Florek, MD
Dr. Aleksandra Florek is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Florek is currently undergoing additional fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery, during which she is receiving extensive training in the management of complex skin cancers and advanced reconstructive surgery. Dr. Florek was born and raised in Poland. She earned her medical degree at the Medical University of Gdańsk, one of the oldest universities in Europe and one of the most prestigious medical schools in Poland, graduating in the top 5% of her class. Dr. Florek subsequently moved to New York for her internship in Internal Medicine at the New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center. She then went on to perform clinical research at the University of Colorado Denver and at Northwestern University, where she collaborated with world-renowned researchers, and served as a sub-investigator in over 21 clinical trials with investigative drugs in psoriasis, eczema, acne, and pemphigus vulgaris. She then completed a dermatology residency at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center. Throughout her residency training, Dr. Florek enjoyed learning general, pediatric, and surgical dermatology, and spent her free time volunteering at the local free dermatology clinic where she provided care to patients without health insurance. Dr. Florek has received multiple honors and awards for her scholastic achievements and contributions, including a medical research fellowship grant from the National Psoriasis Foundation and academic scholarships from the Polish-American Medical Society in Chicago. Dr. Florek is the author of over 25 publications in peer-reviewed dermatology journals and textbooks, including the Journal of American Medical Association, Journal of American Academy of Dermatology, and Dermatologic Surgery Journal. Dr. Florek has presented at various international, national, as well as local conferences, including World Congress of Dermatology, American Academy of Dermatology, European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Cosmetic Surgery Forum, and the Society of Investigative Dermatology. In addition to Mohs surgery and reconstructive procedures, Dr. Florek has a special interest in cosmetic dermatology, including laser technology, toxins, fillers, platelet-rich plasma, body-contouring, and sclerotherapy. Her medical dermatology interests include psoriasis, eczema, as well as the diagnosis, medical management and prevention of skin cancers. Dr. Florek is fluent in Polish and proficient in Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, boating, doing yoga, cooking, and traveling.
