About Ahmed S. Suliman, MD
Ahmed Suliman, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who performs a broad spectrum of aesthetic (cosmetic) and reconstructive procedures to address the effects of a medical condition or injury, or to enhance one's appearance. This includes breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, reconstruction for maxillofacial trauma, body contouring after significant weight loss, reconstruction after cancer treatment, complex microvascular reconstruction, trunk reconstruction, and autologous fat grafting. As an associate professor in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Suliman trains medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He was named teacher of the year in 2016 in the Division of Plastic Surgery Residency Program. In addition, he conducts research related to autologous fat grafting and regenerative medicine and stem cells. Dr. Suliman completed a fellowship in microsurgery at UCLA Medical Center, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He completed a residency in general surgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at UCLA Medical Center, David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Suliman earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He is board certified in surgery and plastic surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. In addition to English, Dr. Suliman speaks Arabic.
