It is common practice following dermaplaning to apply nourishing and rejuvenating serums and skin care products to augment facial rejuvenation. This type of skin resurfacing procedure should only be performed by a licensed aesthetician as the average household razor is not comparable to or as safe or effective as a sharp scalpel. Dermaplaning, unlike chemical peels, is safe in most skin types and skin textures, and can provide similar anti-aging benefits, clearing of clogged pores, and increase in collagen production.
The cost of dermaplaning will vary by individual and we’ve outlined a few factors that contribute to total cost in the table below.
| Factor | Explanation | | ---------- | ---------- | | Technician | Training, experience, specialty | | Consultation Fees | May or may not count towards the final cost of the procedure | | Concerns | Duration and involvement of procedure | | Maintenance | Regularity of maintenance treatments |
Dermaplaning maintenance is typically monthly. Follow-up dermaplaning sessions may have lower costs than the initial treatment through incentives, offers, and programs offered to regular dermaplaning candidates.
The table below shows average costs for dermaplaning in major cities across the U.S.
| State | Average Cost | | ---------- | ---------- | | New York, NY | $100 to $250 | | Chicago, IL | $75 to $225 | | Miami, FL | $100 to $250 | | Birmingham, AL | $75 to $200 | | Austin, TX | $100 to $200 | | Los Angeles, CA | $100 to $250 |
| Country | Average Cost | | ---------- | ---------- | | Canada | $150 to $250 | | Mexico | $150 to $250 | | Colombia | $75 to $150 | | United Kingdom | $100 to $200 | | Australia | $150 to $250 | | Japan | $100 to $250 | | United Arab Emirates | $125 to $225 |
Essentially, reconstructive surgery and procedures are often covered by health insurance, while cosmetic surgery and cosmetic procedures are not. Obviously, dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure (not a medical necessity) and it will not be covered.
