Dr. Laurel Cummings is a general dermatologist specializing in medical and surgical dermatology. Her interests in dermatology include skin cancer detection, prevention, and treatment, acne, and other inflammatory skin disorders including psoriasis and eczema. She graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.S. in Biology. She received her M.D. from University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Cummings completed her internship in internal medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, MD. She then completed her dermatology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where she served as chief resident in her final year. Dr. Cummings is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Women’s Dermatologic Society, Phi Beta Kappa undergraduate honor society, and Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and pets, eating at the many wonderful restaurants in Richmond, vegetable and native plant gardening, traveling, and helping with her husband’s beehives in the backyard.
